Students complete experiments in Chemistry class
Our goal at Central Cambria High School is to have high quality instruction taking place in every classroom, every period, every day. It is the most important goal that we have. In recent classroom visits and observations, we have seen examples of this, so we would like to share a few in this space. In the first photo below, we have some scenes from Mr. Wagner's College Chemistry class. The class conducted lab experiments to demonstrate Boyle's Law and Charles's Law. What set this lesson apart was Mr. Wagner's use of questioning to force students to think. Rather than give them answers when they were unsure about their next step, Mr. Wagner asked questions that helped students think their way through the problem. These were not questions that could be answered with one word, but ones that required thought about the content students were learning about. This might sound like a simple thing, but it can make all the difference between a mediocre learning experience and a highly effective one, which this was.
